From my point of view, it would not be so good if law gets involved.

Loot boxes are nothing new, trading/collectible sport cards and CCGs have been around for decades and I couldn't care less - I'll never play MTG or any other CCG, cause there are enough excellent card games that don't rely on boosters.

But problem with video games is that a lot of AAA publishers have started using them...which, just like microstransactions, eventually cuts into game design to accommodate for that shit.

Now, if they pass some law (highly unlikely) that lootboxes are gambling, great, no more of that crap in VGs...but that might hit CCGs as well - personally, I don't care, but the thing is, CCGs like MTG keep A LOT of boardgame shops running.

So, again, from my point of view, not so good.
