Then you have the championship rounds, 2 each night except Tuesdays (server maintenance, can't play Tuesday nights). Races start on the hour, you can join one per night. It all depends on the hectic 10 minute, 20 car on track qualifying round, how well you will do. The championship rounds are simply longer versions of the normal races (20 minutes, not that long) with 20 cars on track. More chances to get penalties! You get points at the end which are still a mystery to me.  (Got 189 points for a win, 1230 points for placing 5th, err) Not that it matters, after 3 weeks it's still only test rounds and means nothing.

The points you get are dependant on the ranks of the players you compete with in the race. The higher the ranks of players behind you the higher your actual score!

Yes I know but I was DR rank C in both cases. It's just luck who you get matched against, next to 'creating' luck during qualifying. Getting the right drafting opportunities makes all the difference in qualifying which doesn't make much sense. On the longer tracks you also have only 2 or 3 chances to set a qualifying time, get screwed by another player a few times and that's it. Add to that that the spaced out rolling starts and harsh penalties for touching heavily favor starting position for how a race gets decided. You already start 20 sec behind first place at the back of the pack.

My problem with it is that the penalty system is dampening the fun. I was having a great race with another person swapping places at every turn, however occasionally that involves a harmless bump for which both get punished over and over. So he decided to stick behind instead until the last corner and not attempt overtaking anymore. It saps the fun out of it and defeats the whole point of getting into even matches with clean drivers.

I hope the penalty system gets fixed and starts to correctly identify who is cutting off who. You can still gently push people off the road for no punishment. When you enter a corner side by side and the other person doesn't stick to their line, you end up getting punished as well. Brake checking needs to be fixed. As well as getting punished for someone else hitting the wall or cutting a corner and hitting you. Plus of course the classic getting hit from behind at a corner sending you into a wall or cutting the corner for both a downranking and time penalty.

As it is now, SR rank is not creating better drivers. It's just telling people not to get near each other.
