| adisababa said: to be honest, i don't get the battlefront 2 hate, I feel that it is way too harsh for a game with spectacular visuals, a serviceable campaign and lots of multiplayer content (come on, galactic assault is awesome). sure the pay to win angle isn't good but it's not like the game will be unbalanced to the point it makes the game unplayable. the weapons will more or less have some sort of balance. loot boxes are a staple of triple-A gaming and I've come to accept it, if it isn't ok for EA to do it then it isn't ok for anyone else. COD has supply drops and I'm not complaining and neither is the gaming community. I honestly couldn't care less about microtransactions because in the end it is a choice and doesn't hinder my own experience. I have only played the beta so maybe I don't know the full extent of the pay to win debacle but the hate is strong and to me, it feels unfounded and way too cruel. |
LMAO at the bolded. You have got to be kidding me. It's people like you that are causing this industry to be what it is today. The reason why it's getting well deserved hate is because this is the first AAA SIXTY DOLLARS game to have a full freemium progression system. A system where it takes hours to unlock a SINGLE character. A system seen in cheap games on mobile where they put an unbearable time barriers to entice to you to purchase microtransactions to significantly accelerate the process.
Also, how the hell can you even justify a fully pay to win system in a 60-80$ AAA game? And no, it's not because they "temporarily" removed them that it makes everything alright. That's like someone attempting to rob you and then they apologise and backtrack when you see them trying to reach your wallet. And you being " Oh, no worries man, have a good day!" with a big smile on your face.
And no, other games that do it should also receive a backlash. The only reason why BF2 got such a huge backlash is because it's the first one to go truly all in on lootboxes. Also, since it's a huge franchise, more people will complain then, say, a game like need for speed that just released recently that also has a crappy lootbox system.
