lol thats not true at all, ps2, 360, ps4 and wii, all were sold out at launch, just because your launching during the holidays doesn't mean they will ample stock, infact its pretty damn rare.

lets take the PS4 for instance.

in development for at least 3 years before its launch. It was announced 9 months before its launch. Mass production started Approximately 8 weeks before its launch. It was targeting a holiday window launch. Do you know how many consoles it was able to get ready for launch during the holiday period?

2.1M consoles.

After its launch week there were absolutely zero PS4s available anywhere. Sales crashed the week after. In truth, most regions sold out in 48hrs of all available stock.

Between November ending and January 3rd 2014 they were able to get another 2.2M consoles to market. And that ended the launch window, then manufacturing actually dropped to around 1M consoles a month following that. Why? Because it costs more to manufacture a console if you have them working around the clock. It cost more meeting demand if you have to ship via air freight.

Everything you are saying is based on this assumption that knowing they are releasing during the holiday launch window, nintendo would have made more than 2M consoles. And I am trying to tell you that it just doesn't work that way. And I have every console released over the last 3 decades, be it holiday period or not..... nit a single one has managed to push out more than 2.5M consoles in its launch week, even worse its launch day.

I am saying what I am saying based on every console launched before now. What are you basing your own theory on?

I'll say again, feel free to refute this. Can you show me a console that launched (at any time of the year) with as much as a shipment of 4M consoles in its launch week? You will find that they usually hit that 4-5M target in the "launch window" which is usually around 2-4 months after launch. It took nintendo 6 months to do that with the NS. Not because they were not successful, but because for whatever reason... they couldn't make the consoles fast enough.

Whatever stops them from being able to do that, doesn't just go away because they are releasing in the november. It took the wii over a year to sort out their stock issues.

Don't get me wrong. I totally agree that hardware (hell everything) sells better during the holidays. And there are some consoles (eg XB1) that benefitted more from releasing in november than say if it had released in march (because it was marred in controversy from day one).

But when looking at hardware that is obviously successful and hits the ground running. IT DOES NOT matter which month it launches in. It just would not be able to meet demand.

Here is some math for you.

If in its first 6 months on the market the switch sold 7M consoles. And during those six months it was out of stock, meaning that for 6 months every stock that was available was sold. Do you know that means that if they had launched with 7M consoles in the first 2 months (call those two months the launch window) it would still have sold out of them all? Regardless of what time of the year.

As I have been saying, this notion of yours only holds water if you could find NS consoles on shelves a month after launch. You couldn't. So stop talking about what plan nintendo had or how they could do something that no console manufacturer (including them) has ever done. And make your case with facts as opposed of your gut feelings.
