I believe a Yoshi title is coming. But it's a B-tier title... Yoshi hasn't been popular since the GBA days.

Kirby Star Allies is slated for Spring 2018, so probably Q2. Overall, they could have a Direct in January like they did this year and announce titles for late Q1 (March) and Q2 onwards. We knew nothing of MK8DX, ARMS, Snipperclips and Splatoon up until Jan 2017.

Yoshi is still popular, New Island on 3DS & Woolly World on Wii U each sold over 1 million.

3DS has a strong install base but the game was mediocre while Yoshi on Wii U was great but on a low install base.

Switch has a strong userbase and if the game is well recieved than it could do over 2 million.

Popular is an inflated term in this case. Yoshi isn't really a system-seller and Japan doesn't care most of the time about it. While the games sold over a million, Yoshi used to sell over 4 million back in its prime.

This doesn't even compare to how Zelda and Mario Kart moved consoles back in the beginning of 2017. I'm afraid Yoshi isn't up to the task to carry Q1 on its own.
