I feel like we saw something like in the last week saying December still.
I like what they are doing though by basically not promoting it at all right now. I mean it's a freaking DLC. If the DLC comes out say Dec 15th or 22nd, then advertise it a few days before. Pop out some new Direct and showcase it. The DLC I doubt will move new Zelda units. The game is still selling well and will to new users come holiday anyway. But don't take away from other games advertising for DLC ad. This dlc is not like a new expansion for WoW or Destiny or something. It's not something you need to advertise huge.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get a holiday direct near Christmas and the direct has the DLC showcased finally and also goes "this will be available immediately after the direct" That seems like good advertising to me. You are guaranteed all those that already purchased the dlc to download, you may convince some new ones to download during the direct and by having it be "immediately after" those new ones may purchase and download impusively before they really think if they want it or not. You know, before any reviews of the DLC come out and tlel them it isn't that great or worth money or short or any other negative that may make them hesitate.
