Yep, Mario Odyssey is a huuuuge step forward in game design compared to 3d world.
Still... I don´t think it buries the previous game at all. Two different styles of games. I had lots of fun with 3d world and it is still a blast to play with friends and family. This last weekend my house was pratically converted into a hotel and some Mario 3d World multiplayer sessions worked very well to keep everyone occupied LOL
