Other than switch, the last home console to launch in spring was ps2 in March 2000. The industry is much different than back then and most companies opt to launch in the fall/holiday season for maximum sales/exposure.
Sony will follow PS4’s lead and launch fall/holiday 2019. Microsoft just released the X. I don’t see them launching a new gen console in 2019 thereby giving Sony a 6mo-1 yr lead on the market with PS5.
