That is one narrative. If they planned the release correctly there wouldn't be a reason to not be able to produce more, because even with the analysts puting the other products that affected the components for Switch, they sold dozen Millions, so it wasn't like Nintendo wouldn't be able to produce more if they planned and had confidence.
Nintendo can't make this type of PR because that would manipulate market and stock and is a crime (this isn't a real Nintendo PR), and my questioning is to people thinking it is reasonable to produce 30M planning to ship 20M.
