| Lafiel said: the violence how it was presented in the TLoU2 trailer was positively sickening and I think that's good, but I don't think that's good to have in a trailer - most horror-film trailers for example don't show off a whole gore/torture scene or sth like that |
This is how I see it as well. When you look at even the most brutal of shows, they do not show this type of violence to advertise either the show or movie. A trailer or demo is an advertisement of a game and its purpose is to sell. When I see violence as the main stage of such demos or trailers, I question why show such scenes without the full context of the game to flesh out the story and its inclusion. This gives the impression that the content provider is glorifying this violence. It seem content providers are trying a little to hard to portray they are adult by having full display of such violent scenes in their trailers or Demos just like Detroit with the child abuse scene.
There is nothing wrong with games showing more graphical violent scenes to flesh out a story but I really do not need a trailer to show these brutal scenes to sell me on the game. It just makes we wonder if you are willing to show this, how much of such scenes I have to play through or go through within the game.
It’s not bad that gamer journalist question such scenes within games because as games characters and graphics get closer to reality, the more creators in this space will have to justify why they include such graphics scenes and their relevance to the story and character of the game.
