Part 2: The 3DS

The Switch definitely had a strong launch, but the same things can't be said with the 3DS.

The 3DS got a couple of Wii U ports, with Poochy and Yoshi launching in 2017. More VC content including Pokemon GS, and a couple of Kirby spin-offs.

Next, there was the games that were either budget titles so nobody really cared about, or was pretty niche and didn't seel well:
- Hey! Pikmin
- Ever Oasis
- Mario Sports Superstar
- Miitopia
- Fire Emblem Warriors (n3Ds exclusive)

Then there was the games that people were interested in and were overall well received.
- Fire Emblem Echoes: A trial game, where Nintendo took the risk to gauge the market after the Fire Emblem hype from Awakening and Fates (and Heroes?). Salewise, it's not bad compared with the FE franchise, but it's significantly lower than 13+14 so it's really unfortunate, as I really enjoyed this game
- Samus Returns: This game really shows Nintendo's change in mentality, trying to please the fans, despite the franchise overall selling poorly. It's really nice to see, and it was well received, though it's hard to say if the sales were enough for Nintendo.
- M&L: Superstar Saga + Bowser: Not sure how this ended up, with all the attention on the Switch..  It did well on meta, though

..and that's it. We have Pokemon and Mario Party Top 100 around the corner, but the 3DS library is really weak with those as well. We also saw the launch of the n2DS XL, but it's obvious that Nintendo's shifting their focus to the Switch. And that's not a bad thing, since their focus needs to be on the Switch. For late adopters of the Switch, it's nice to see Nintendo support this 6 years old hardware. But for new Switch owners, is this effort worth it? Worth trying to squeeze more sales before ending the 3DS lifeline? People obviously have varying opinions on this, but as a 3DS owner, it makes sense to see FE Echoes and Samus Returns on the 3DS, rather than the Switch. I would argue that Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon makes sense for the 3DS as well, but I digress. 2017 for the Nintendo 3DS is weak, but completely justified

My overall rating:
TBA/10

I would give an early score, but will like to see the launch of Xenoblade 2 and the supply for the Switch during the Holidays..
