The NES never had a monopoly.
In the 1980s Electronic Arts made games for Apple II, TRS-80, Atari 400, Atari 800, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, PC-88, PC-98, Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST, MS-DOS, Macintosh, Sega Genesis... and yes, even NES.
