I think this is the first Ulver album I've ever actually properly listened to. I think I was partly curious as to how lo-fi it would actually sound, and I was actually surprised by how palatable it was to my ears (in as much as the riffs are easily discernible and it's easy to hear the rhythmic drive of the songs). Perhaps it's just years of listening to metal that have got me used to questionable production quality, as it probably would be tough for many people to endure the length of the album. Black metal isn't normally my thing (I usually have to be in the mood for it, and the mood rarely strikes these days), but it was an enjoyable listen.
I guess an off shoot of the above is to ask what some of your favourite albums are, production wise? Any producers, production styles, techniques etc that you like or loathe?
