As long as Sony, Bethesda, Rockstar and Nintendo are around the four pillars will support Single player and be great at it (as they always have).
Microsofts involvement purely depends on their ability to make a new IP that sticks ( which they've failed to do). If their fans dont support it, then single player will surely die. They will follow EA on their path.
