Whew! That's a lot of Xbox. Currently there's one in my game room (XBO S with 8TB external HDD and Kinect), one in my living room (OG 1TB with 2TB External HDD and Kinect), one in my bedroom (OG 500GB with 2TB HDD), and the one attached to the mobile gaming screen (White XBO S with 2TB external). I'm gonna give one of them away when I get my Xbox One X, though.

So...yeah. I'm crazy.

Whatever keeps you happy. If buying additional consoles that play the same games as the hardware you already have gives you satisfaction: go for it!

Personally I'm already happy if my hardware collection gives me access to all the game libraries... if a new console can play all games of the older device (in the same quality or even better), I don't need to keep the older device.

I sold my Wii when I got the Wii U due to full Wii-BC. I sold my PS4 when I got the PS4 Pro since they share the same game library. I didn't replace my DS with a broken shoulder button and damaged touchscreen, instead I got an 3DS XL with full DS-BC. I thought about replacing my RRoD-360, instead I bought an Xbox One with a growing library of 360-BC.

On the other hand I kept my PSP because the Vita only gave me access to a part of the PSP library. I kept my PS3 because of the lack of BC on PS4.

  • with my PS3 Fat + PS4 Pro + PSP + Vita I have access to almost any PlayStation game (PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP, Vita; except a few incompatible PS2 games)
  • with my Xbox Original + Xbox One I have access to almost any Xbox game (Xbox, 360, XBO; except a few 360 games, but the gaps are closing)
  • with my GBA + 3DS XL + Switch I have access to almost any Nintendo handheld game (GB, GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS; except a handful New 3DS exclusives)
  • with my N64 + GameCube + Wii U + Switch I have access to almost any Nintendo home console game (N64, GC, Wii, Wii U, Switch; most NES + SNES titles I'm interested in are available as VC)
  • with my PC I have access to almost any DOS- and Windows game (except a few incompatible games from the late 1990s / early 2000s)
  • with my PSVR + Oculus Rift I have access to almost any VR-porn VR-game
  • with my iPad Air I have access to any iOS game (didn't upgrade to iOS 11 yet, which is incompatible to 32-bit apps)
  • with my phone + cheap Fire-tablet I have access to almost any Android game
  • most SEGA games that interest me I have in game compilations on Steam + PSP/Vita
