Assuming this rumor is true, this would be the fifth collection they make out of a franchise with eight games, and that's stretching it with the mobile entry.

Forget about Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed, Kingdom Hearts is the epitome of milking.

To be fair:

Most of the games have re-released versions with substantially more content than they did at launch (KH2FM having nearly 50% more content), and both re:Chain of Memories & re:coded were full-on remakes.

The original 1.5 Collection was actually a huge feat, as they had to completely rebuild KHFM from the ground up due to having lost the original source disc. Not only that, but it was the first time Final Mix released outside of Japan (a big deal), and they made HD cutscenes to tell the story of Days.

The original 2.5 Collection doubled down by releasing two Final Mix titles, and remade re:coded into HD cutscenes like Days had (marking the second time the overall format of the game was altered).

The 2.8 Collection added a bunch of new(ish) content, including HD cutscenes for KHX (Back Cover) and an entirely new story sequence in 0.2 Birth By Sleep (which doubled as a tech demo for KH3).

1.5+2.5 combined the PS3 Collections for a PS4 release, marking the first time the full story was available on a single console (and adding that sweet HD fight scene at the end of Days).

What this is going to do is a bit redundant, but it's likely to save on cost. If they can consolidate all of the titles onto one disc they'll save a ton in manufacturing, so it's a no brainer to phase out 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 in favor of a Full Collection.
