I dunno if I would agree it's better than the first one; it's certainly more varied, but also much more uneven; tonally it's all over the place, the framerate was less consistent, etc.

The first game was a game that was functional but unremarkable outside of its graphics and controls, the second was a wildly mixed bag that bettered the original in some ways but fell short of it in others.
