| dib8rman said: @bored4life Your mixing opinion with reality a bit; as in your fusing them together. FFCC didn't sell well because the selling point wasn't a selling point. No other reason. In fact heres a nice linky proving it's not canceled: http://na.square-enix.com/ffccnews/?p=47 That should pretty much /thread Next I want to drive the point that Square knew FFCC was seen as a multiplayer game, which it was and wanted to drift away from that. This link is the man himself: "Itahana: There's a much more action oriented take. The key differences are that the previous games focused on multiplayer, and Crystal Bearers will be a more single player experience." -Interview with Toshiyuki Itahana, Crystal Bearers Director, IGN, May16, 2007 http://uk.ds.ign.com/articles/789/789024p1.html |
I never said it was cancelled. It just might have been a possibility.
Plus. The last part is cherry picking.Of course they're not going to say that the game was a slap in the face of GC owners and that they're going to make it better this time since the Wii is winning.
Right now social gaming/multiplayer is the big thing out now in Japan so to say that it is holding it back goes against what the market wants. From lookng at receptions of the game only the "hardcore" minority hated the multiplayer. What turned off most peple is that they saw the game for what it was. This problem crossed over to the DS despite it being a good game since it has a bad image attached to the brand. The best way to keep the brand going was to change it's image entirely and this is what they have done(thankfully).
Prediction:
