We live in a world of pixel counters ...

Pixel counting has always existed. Now that the Playstation 4 isn't on top, some select individuals on this forum are having to change tact and are thus trying to downplay the importance of resolution after hyping 1080P and the GDDR5's for so long.

Marketing makes a difference, but price tags do as well. Not sure if $499 will be an easy price to swallow

It will be for enthusiasts/high-end gamers, but outside of that... It will likely not gain much in the way of momentum.
I think what people need to keep in mind is that the Xbox One X and Playstation 4 Pro is a Halo product... nVidia doesn't manufacture the Titan GPU because it sells millions of units at a high price... It exists because it creates brand recognition, it brings consumers attention over to the platform as a whole. And like I said before the Playstation 4/Nea/4.5 was even revealed... The cheaper product will sell in higher volumes because of that intrinsic fact.
What will be truly interesting is how the Xbox One S will sell after the Xbox One X launches... Microsoft is winning a ton of "free" advertisement via gaming outlets thanks to the Xbox One X (Not just hardware, but game trailers and so on too!) so it will be interesting to see how things look over the long term for the entire Xbox One platform.

I love how gaming outlets are making claims like "Feel True Power". - And I am like... *Cough*PC*Cough*.

But aren’t consoles marketed to a totally different demographic? Console players just to buy a device and off they go. Ppl who play PC are different in that they actually care and have time to build beastly setups. So for console players, the phrase is correct. At lease until next gen. Then a whole new “power” battle will begin.
