Similar things have happened before with Xbox. When the first party output for new ips is under par it would be expected that they struggle if they can't get third party. I mean look at the first year of Xbox, which was pretty much reliant on games like ryse, dead rising and titanfall. Their original Xbox was essentially on life support via PC exclusives and sega games. None of their first party outside of halo, pgr and fable made the cut into the 360 era.

I agree, but at least in the past, there was always a game or two that I wanted to play. This year appears to be the worst for me, although admittedly, it could be that my gaming taste has changed over the years.

As time goes by our tastes do change. You are definitely correct, sir. I'm just worried about the world Microsoft is creating for younger gamers. They are growing up in a world full of Microtransactions and lootboxes and questioning the value of single player games because they cannot master making new ones or even creating a safe culture for single player experiences on Xbox.
