There is still some hope of the Respawn game in 2018. It entered development mid-2014 so a Holiday 2018 release isn't impossible. I can't see EA doing more than 1 game per year, and with Battlefront 3 most likely coming in 2019 and the Visceral Game (now moved to EA Vancouver) possibly in 2020, that really only leaves 2018 for Respawn. 

I didn't realize that's been in development for that long. Respawn pumps out games pretty quick too.

i googled and from what I can gather from an interview is that it started in late 2015.
