In any case, I think if you're going by the definition of "8th gen was disappointing, so GotG has to be disappointing", there's better choices than Destiny - namely, No Man's Sky. It's still talked about and villainized to this day, and it was the absolute peak of hype hyperbole - plus, it was truly hated by everyone at launch, unlike Destiny which still had a lukewarm critical reception. In any case, I don't think Destiny does well in the "noteworthy" category, because to me at least it seems like people just forgot about it.

Breath of the wild was developed for the Wii U.   Nintendo just dragged its feet so they could release it with the new generation when it became clear that the Wii U was a flop
