Disagree about Splatoon, as it's not a port. Like i said, i refused to buy MK8D new as i didn't see enough new content in there to justify a full price purchase. Didn't buy either the original or remake pokken but tbh there was even less new content in that 1. As for Smash, i could see some backlash if that was remade, light on new content. I, personally wouldn't buy it and i'm sure i wouldn't be the only 1. Regarding ports from Wii u i think Nintendo needs to know where to draw the line. I suppose 3 or 4 are fine, as long as there are eventually  new iterations of said games/franchises at some point later in the Switch's life. Too many ports and Nintendo begins to encroach on the goodwill of its loyal fans who actually supported them, not just by buying the Wii u but also the aforementioned games and DLC.

In short, i'd have nothing against a Smash/DX port but personally i probably wouldn't buy it. Just as long as, further down the line there will be an all new entry in the series, from the ground up, on the Switch.

I bought a WiiU fairly early this gen and I'm not a staunch Nintendo fan, it simply had some games I desired to play.

I held off on buying a Switch at launch because I had a WiiU and could already play Zelda on that.

I'm buying a Switch now because a few games-- Mario Odyssey, FE:Warriors, Xenoblade2 --are coming out that I now want to play on that system. Plus there are some other WiiU games that I want to revisit on Switch, particularly MK8, because even though I already put 100s of hours into it I still wouldn't mind putting in more with all the changes, because that game is phenomenal and addicting.

I'm also pretty sure like myself, the majority of Smash owners on WiiU still haven't gotten nearly everything there is to offer out of that game. So if they were to add enough substantial changes to Smash4DX, along with all the previous content from both WiiU and 3DS, I'm sure a lot of people would be compelled to re-buy for Switch.

Not everyone is as staunchly against ports of WiiU games, especially when they're releasing more than enough new games anyway, and I'm pretty sure the sales reflect that. You're panicing over nothing right now.

Sure MK8 WAS phenomenal and addicting but i did find myself getting bored with racing the same tracks over and over. I guess portability adds a little to the replay value. The new characters do a little but not for any substantial amount of time. What really saves it tho, is the new battle mode. I guess that makes it a viable repurchase for those that had bought all the original DLC. Even then, though i still wasn't willing to pay full price for it. As far as Smash goes, well i played the hell out of it. Was actually my favourite game on wii u. I beat all the "achievements" on it, save for about 5, which i literally found impossible. Played loads of 8 player Smash, had amiibo tournaments etc. etc. The key words you mentioned were "substantial changes". Yes, if there were enough substantial changes then it would probably be enough for some, maybe even most Wii u Smash owners, myself incuded. Just adding the DLC characters wouldn't cut it though. I'm thinking all-new characters and stages, challenges, maybe with Smash run added, or some other similar "subspace emissary" type mode.

Going by Sales numbers on here, over 5m people bought the original Smash 4 on wii u. I'm pretty sure most will, or have transitioned onto Switch. If you were to do a poll on here about whether users would prefer a port or an all-new Smash, i'm pretty sure the latter would come out on top. I've nothing against ports, it's just i'd prefer Nintendo didn't offer me the chance to play a game i've played to death fairly recently. Rather an updated one i played years ago or something all-new from their franchises.
