Was my information wrong? I apologize if so. I was going off Vgchartz database numbers.
Edit* Now I see what you were saying lol. I figured digital wouldn't have been a tremendous difference, not to mention I doubt many people will think of this game during the holidays because so many other, newer games will be out? Then again, it isn't an oversatured genre like many others, so it could do well? |
Well those were my secondary points.
My main point is that Injustice 1 sold 2.1 mil from April 2013 - January 1st, physically, across ... 5 platforms. That gives it an average of 8k copies sold a day(2,047,433 / 256).
Injustice 2 sold 1.44 mil physical in 102 days across ... 2 platforms. Giving it an average of 14k coipes sold a day.
Of course, averages don't matter so much but it does give us an idea that just looking at a number is a terrible indicator.
To give you another example that perhaps makes a bit more sense(given that averages I presented are stretched out over a long length of time) Injustice 1 sold 500k in it's 10th week on PS3, whereas Injustice 2 sold 880k by it's 10th week on PS4. That's an increase of about 40%.
Even on Xbox One, a platform significantly less popular than PS3 was at that time, the game is only 100k behind the PS3 version of Injustice 1 at that time.
Essentially we're just seeing the PS4 version beasting and the Xb1 version doing great for what it is. The game is actually selling *faster* than the first game, especially when including digital attach rates going up
In essence, the sales numbers look bad because the first game had legs. This game is actually doing incredible, just like pretty much all Netherrealm games
