If you race 7 laps on soft they'll be quite rough on the last lap (even more when competition send you spinning), their life would be between 1/2 and 1/3, but when I tried 7 laps I hit empty tank around 100-200m of the pitstop. So you are good with soft for 6 laps if you can manage to care for the 6th lap not being aggressive and losing control.

It's a violation to not open for a lapping car to pass, but no AI bothered and I had to be somewhat forcefull, but all the lapping AI I had to pass were considerably slower than me either on the straight or in their cornering so by right positioning and breaking I passed them fast enough, but I don't mind giving them a small occasional scratch if needed.

That's how I ended up with that 10 sec penalty, lapping an AI car that braked and veered into my path, so I stayed away from them after that. They did make way for T Oshima to pass in corners, then closed back up to the driving line blocking me. It was pretty dodgy. If I feel like doing it again I'll record the last couple laps. I can't remember the AI being like this in gt6.

Anyway I assume time trials are allowed in VR. That will be the most of my time in the game. Racing against one AI won't be much different, although perhaps with the arcade boost on it could still be a bit of racing.

The only time a penalty meant anything on the races I done was on the Japan you have to get 20s remaining on the end of the race so each bump on road and cars discounted then...

other races the most I got per bump was around 1.5s that at one time gone over 5s, but that didn't make any notable difference, strange.

Today I'll try to gold both "indoor rally" challenge, I'm totally off on the time... and will try again Interlagos, I was close to get it, but it is less forgiving on mistakes on it's 6 laps and the lead being able to outdo your best lap if he gets in front (similat to the Mclaren or Mercedes challenge that you had to overtake the guy in 2nd before he got in first and would dart off).
