You keep saying this but can we wait until we see actual FM7 on released X1X not E3 footage. Not sure if anything will change but from what I can see from the FM7 Demo it does not look anything like that the video shone as far as looking washed out. I would still give GT the edge in light because GT has always had the better lighting and nothing has changed from what I can see.
Also the aim from GT to Forza is not the same. GT will not have dynamic time of day or weather which is cutting back a lot within the game. This means they can concentrate more on the car models and lighting not having to worry about those features that such up frames. The aim of the two games are not the same and because of this, direct comparison really cannot be done.
