A souls game is hard the first time you play it as it doesn't explain anything. I didn't even know you could jump until 30 hours in, after restarting my first 20 hour attempt as I had leveled all the wrong stats and was pretty much stuck by lack of any explanation.
Now if you read a guide first, the game suddenly becomes very easy. You still need plenty patience though. (Shoot dragon tail 100 times from a safe position and other nonsense like that)
