The Wii launched at the same time as the PS3 and Nintendo beat Sony by more than a comfortable margin. The "proper" world order wasn't in place anymore, so there was a huge desire to explain everything away. If you take the above premise and apply it to VGC sales threads, there's usually a stark contrast between global sales threads that have the PS4 in first and those that have Switch in first. Switch selling well isn't an issue as long as it stays behind the PS4. But the time will come that Switch is going to be ahead more often, so the tone of sales discussions will get much more toxic. Switch's current game lineup doesn't give much room for an attack, so the prefered deflection is to call Switch a handheld which is merely a way to arrive at "Switch is in a different market, so it's not really beating the PS4." This restores the world order. |
Yeah, pretty much. A lot of gamers just couldn't seem to handle a Nintendo console beating a Playstation console and so the excuses came pouring in about how Wii magically didn't count.

I disagree I would place Sonic 06 and Duke Nukem above Just Dance and Carnival Games...ok maybe not Sonic 06 that was real bad. But even then it wasnt like there were alot of games like Sonic 06 on its respective systems. They just kept making Just Dance like games and not alot else (cant blame em, they were selling good and didnt cost much too make) |
I'd still say there were mountains of bad games on PS3/360, they were just generic action/sports/movie titles instead of casual fitness/minigame titles. Being "core" and in HD didn't make them any less rubbish.
