You are forgetting this is not a main GT game this game will sell closer to how the previous GT Prolouge games sold and not the main GT games.

This is 100% a main GT game. This is Gran Turismo 7, the next mainline Gran Turismo. The devs have stated this, it has been known for a while. It may also be PS4's only Gran Turismo game. It will also sell like a main Gran Turismo game.

I don't know anything about GT, and I only played a little bit of GT PSP as a kid along time ago, but I thought GT Sport was a side game more or less meant to deliver a PS4 GT experience before the main game comes out in the next two years? Isn't Sport a multiplayer centric side game?
