Valve doesn't tell devs to slash prices on their season passes though, that's entirely up to the devs to decide. All Valve does now is try their hand at keeping order within their store as well as working on new features and existing ones. EA owns their store and the vast majority of the games sold there. Games that go for free on Steam are decisions made by the devs, not Valve. If anything, EA took hints from Steam thanks to free limited time old titles every once in a while, as well as having a built in FPS counter (which Valve had first, now Origin and GoG have caught up with that feature, with MS being last as well as Uplay, Beth.net and Battle.net). Bear in mind that via other platforms, means it's by their own client service, not outside of it. It also falls under the EA vault service, one which you pay to gain access to. I do not consider paying for something as being "free". Gaining access to something without having to pay a cent is what would be considered as free. What these companeis should do, is give away old games for nothing, and I mean nothing, that alone builds a ton of goodwill, without having to pay to earn said goodwill. |
Valve could still give theoir own games for free.
The games I mentioned here are free for everyone, sure EA Origin Access gives you more free games, but you get some free games like Steamworld Dig withouit paying anything at all. You can go and download them right now if you want.
I wasn't aware of Steam giving out free games, any free game they have on the store now? Would be cool.
