For most consoles I said - the PS3 and Wii U being obvious exceptions since those consoles seem to be built from the begininng to be very dififcult to lower production costs on... That number might be $250 now with inflation. Though I don't think I'm missing the point. I know plenty of people both casual, hardcore, and legit video game developers who only get one console per generation. I don't necessarily think it's a lack of money per se (for some it is), but the willingness to invest in in a entirely new platform including a $200-$400 console cost, extra controller, online service fees... when that money could be put into games on the platform you already have. Heck, $300-$500 is more than most people spend on games on any one platform.
