You can absolutely compare Switch to Wii + Ds

All valid and different comparisons for different reasons.  

 

I'm most interested in ps4 vs PS3 personally and switch vs Wii U + 3DS because they are the most recent. But again I agree, we can compare to previous generations if you want.

First of all, why would PS4 + Vita versus PS2 be a valid comparison?

Secondly, do you think that if Sony had released a hybrid during the seventh generation instead of PSP and PS3, it would have sold 168 million worldwide? Or if Nintendo released a hybrid instead of DS and Wii, it would have sold 255 million worldwide?

If Sony launched a ps3 that was a hybrid and cost $400 at launch with similar power to the 360 I'd actually think they could have.  It's sales would have been insane with the combined userbase and coming off the ps2. 

 

And it would have retained many of the Playstation ps2 exclusives that xbox either nabbed or got a version of. It would have maintained more aswell as it lost franchises like dragon quest and monster hunter to Nintendo. 

 

Dengle was saying why just compare to last gen and I agreed.  The gen before it was just the ps2 for Sony so if you were comparing total consoles sold per gen the comparison would be vita + ps4 vs ps2.

I'd like to agree but considering these threads are more popular now then ever before that's actually false.
