The narrative is obvious. It will be against Trump and for this protest. What the narrative says and what actually happens are completely different things though. I mean the narrative has been for Cap since day 1, yet look how that turned out. And what does the narrative say about why that is? 100% due to his protest. Not saying it doesn't have a factor. It's the same as like signing someone like Terrel Owens, it will bring drama to the field and disrupt your players. BUT unlike Owens, Cap is just not that good. Look at his stats in teh games he played last year. Like 3rd string back-up worthy stats. But let me ask you on your feed. Those in favor, are they sports fans? Like I said for me. THose I know watch sports and are big into it were ovewhelmingly against it. A couple support from sports guys, but most support is from people that couldn't name more a coupld players in the league and probably be retired people they mention. Then lots of support from those that woulnd't know the diff from a basketball or a football. The point is. The people the NFL wants are not happy. The supporters aren't watching games, going to games or buying merchandise so their support is meaningless. |
Most of my friends are sports fan. What makes you believe this is the issue that is bringing sales down. If anything this is just one of many issues the NFL has gone throgh from Abusive players, concussion issue, Cap and his protest etc. Its not like any of the big sports have not had their ups and downs so trying to just pin this on players kneeing to the flag is making it bigger than it really is. The majority of my friends do not care. They support the player having the right to stand or kneel and thats about as far as the caring goes.
Really if a supporter is so unhappy because a few players kneel during the NA, then they probably was just so so fans to begin with. They are the 10% that watch one season and then not another or only watch during the superbowl or playoffs (like How I am with Baseball).
The narative is actually moving away from Cap and his ability on the field into a movement. Before it was just a few people with their silent protest, you could either hate, support or be indifferent to the player and move on. Now it actually could take some type of shape and if the President keeps opening his mouth it may. If this helps or hurt the NFL we will see. The more gas poured on the issue the more you may see this spilling into other sports. This could burn bright and die out out or it could gain momentum. We shall see how long Trump feels he needs to double down on his tweets and where it goes. I am sure if he sees his approval rating surge he will be gunning with both barrels, if they dip he will suddenly shut up and move to another topic to deflect his problems.
