Right. I don't want to see MP3 compared with Halo 3 or any other FPS. No matter how good MP3's multiplayer would be, the game would always be belittled by FPS nerds.

EDIT: Hunters was bad, the worst Metroid game ever. Focus on multiplayer is not good for Metroid.

no matter how good? so you care more about what nerds think than your enjoyment of the game?.

No, we, the hardcore demographic who this game is targeted at, care a LOT more about the single player gameplay and story than about multiplayer. If multiplayer in Metroid had to be sacrificed to make single player perfect, I will not mutter a single complaint. If I want a multiplayer shooter, I'll go play Halo (or another of the hundreds of generic online shooters that exist). What I and most Metroid fans want is a deep and engaging single player experience.

who said one had to be sacrificed?. its posible to have both you know.. im sure there are some fps games that have both good single and multiplayer modes.. cmon this title is supposed to revolutionize fps games.. and what other multiplayer fps game has tight controls that this game boast on having?.

Like I said in my previous post, if they added multiplayer they would have to split their attention and focus.  Even with a larger team, it's still one team that is splitting their focus.  I would much rather have an incredibly highly focuses and polished single player game than a single/multiplayer game where the developers had to worry about the single player and all the worries that a new multiplayer game brings to the table.

Like I said earlier, the added effort just really wouldn't give back enough.  The people that Retro is targeting isn't looking for a multiplayer experience, their looking for a fantastic highly polished single player experience.  Bringing multiplayer woudl attract some people, but if they had to sacrifice effort on the single player game it just wouldn't be worth chasing away the target audience for a small group.
