I get the point you're trying to make, but you should also take in to account the fact that many 3DS owners never owned any Wii Us. I think it's also much more likely for people to eventually own multiple Switches than for people to have owned multiple Wii Us.

While I agree that 3DS+Wii U comparison isn't like for like I do still think it's more accurate than a Wii U only vs Switch comparison. Of course I think 3DS vs Switch would make the fairest comparison though.

Why is Wii U vs Switch not good? 

When you got sites comparing PS4 vs Switch. Or XB1 vs Switch
