I never got into Slipknot much, despite growing up when nu metal was in its glory days. I knew all the singles and heard the albums through my brothers, but they never grabbed me like other acts at the time. Interesting going back now and hearing the thrash and death influences scattered throughout.
As far as the self titled album goes, it's alright but a bit front loaded. I quite like the production though. Ross Robinson gets some stick but the slightly abrasive style works well. Love the sound of those snare and tom rolls from Joey.
