Will Resistance 2 sell 1 million in week 1?

Well, if we look at past titles.

Gears of war opened with 926K (all 1st weeks combined, which is the only fair way) on a userbase of 5.4M

The Ps3 has more than 2.5 times fore sales, so judging by that, it should have an easy time making it.

Super Mario Galaxy opened up with 1089K with a userbase of 14.9M

Judging by that, R2 should be able to sell roughly 1.0M.

Both the two above launched in November, and are therefore fair comparisons.


I say it should make it fairly easy, after all, you would expect a higher AR than for a casual game, right?

 

Then you have GTA IV on the Ps3. It sold 2.4M on a smaller userbase, outside of holiday season, being multiplat. You'd think R2 should be able to halve that, right?  

I'd say that R2 would sell this over a regional breakdown.
