Social Democracy  is a form of socialism and for the most part it works really well.  Again the top 10 in the yearly happies index is usually dominated by social democracies.

Happens that the top 10 countries are also very rich. Like Denmark, Canada, Norway, Sweden and Swiss. The latter isn't very social to anyone not from Switzerland though. Israel is on place 11 and the United Arabic Emirate on 14 and those are not social democracies. So I guess your country being rich is more important than it being a social democracy. Besides most North Western European countries don't belong to a single system. In the Netherlands usually a top 5 country by far the biggest party are  right wing conservatives (VVD) and the second biggest party are progressive liberals and the third party which is pretty much as big as the second is a Christian social democratic party as is the relative small fourth. So in total less than 33% of the government is social democratic and there are more conservative than progressive parties in our government at this moment.
