Is that not part of the reason that it's successful? Because it appeals to a wide variety of demographics, rather than appealing heavily to only a small demographic (a la Wii U).

Yeah, but I feel that the way the OP is worded, the question is more seeking to identify which choices Nintendo has made, which has resulted in this success =p unless I skipped over another part by accident!
