FF9 is overly generic, like a Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, or other sort of bland spinoff, disguised as a numbered FF game. The story, characters, and setting were derivative.
It wasn't a terrible game. Actually it was decent, but only when compared to games like Breath of Fire 3, Wild Arms 3, and others of that sort. The game lacked ambition. It's alright for spinoffs, but a big no-no for mainline Final Fantasy games. It wasn't up to standard and I never felt it deserved the mainline placement.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
