They can cut back on the effects as much as they want.
I am happy playing any games from any era (PS1/PS2 etc') provided they are on PC and the resolution is at my native 1440P so everything is clean, sharp and clear.

If it has blur due to poor anti-aliasing, low resolutions, blur-effect filters... And all of the above+more... Then I will criticise it. Heavily. I am pretty consistent on that front, regardless of platform.
