I think developers are just fucking lazy now and don't know how to optimize code. Its like they rush up to toilet while hurrying to pull their pants down to shotgun blast shit all over the toliet bowl and then proudly walking away without flushing or wiping their ass. Apparently almost every game is released in beta now. Consumers are just beta testers now. |
If code is the issue then they are literally just copying and pasting pre-made code into a script without removing unneeded parts. Either that or they have code that is ten miles long for something as simple as "move the player forward". I've seen people take up seventy lines of code for just "shoot bullets".
"We have a variable called Y. Y controls the bullet speed, as well as the ammo count, and enemy health. We have a function called ammo count checker, that generates a list of ammo every frame, and spits out temporary variables called N and M. N then controls the speed of the bullet by running another function that is twenty lines long. M. controls the ammo count of the current gun, but not before putting itself into five different arrays that could just be a single array. I think I'm a smart coder because I found a complicated way to do this instead of just making seperate variables for bullet speed and ammo count. The boss now insists that all other coders have to use and reference my ridiculously complicated code. In order to prevent bugs they have to make their code stupidly complex or it won't work with my code. "
