Beliefs can be changed though, while race cannot. So, being racist is criticizing someone for something they cannot control.

But criticism of religion is racism (in the Netherlands) as long as it isn't Christianity or Atheism. In all seriousness sometimes stereotypical jokes can be funny though. Like imitating someone's accent, who also copies yours is even racism these days. I suddenly know a lot of comedians being very racist.I would even say it's pretty hard these days not to be racist since the line is very much blurring these days.
