I agree with others, that as of having watched some youtube gameplay, it seems you don't understand how boost works.
From what I've seen, boost can be used to interrupt enemy moves, and when strategically lined with other actions, create strong combos.
I saw two different videos of playing, one person using boosts specifically to create breaks and follow up with a magic attack. The other person used a 2x attack every turn. From what I saw, the the former was able to beat the first boss significantly faster at almost half the level of the latter.
