I mean, I understand that you don't want to put forth any effort to at least qualify what is mainstream media. Internet makes it easy though.
Here's the "Guns and Gun Control" and the "Guns in America" aggregation by NYT which has the aforementioned articles that are shed light on murders, our response, and even editorials calling for the ban of open carry. Not everything is inherently anti-gun (duh, it's an aggregation of similar articles), but there are some very informative articles (like this one) that talk about things we can do to combat mass shootings and gun violence.
I don't even pay that much attention to the news, but this is one of the most talked about news items that I can think of.
