I beleive in the Atacama desert they set up some sort of netting to capture what little water there is in the atmosphere.  The water condenses on the netting, then trickles down into a trough on the bottom of the net that collects the water.

It may have just been a concept for a future solution, but have heard that in some skyscrapers, they similarly use really finely meshed nets to literally catch clouds and use that as drinkable water, because it is difficult to pump the water that high from the bottom.
