The US is geared towards targeting those of colour. When an officer of the law provides more ammunition for those being oppressed to fear them; this creates more distrust of the system that harms them.

"For Black offenders, the results are once again limited to drug trafficking offenses and to
male offenders. The typical Black drug trafficker receives a sentence about ten percent longer than
a similar White drug trafficker. This translates into a sentence about seven months longer."

Those who deny the very nature of the US systematically oppressing those of colour are very unaware of this harsh reality. Those who are black are more likely to receive harsher sentences than those who are white. The American justice system is flawed. The US also has a very trigger happy police force, all one must do is compare the US police force to those in more stable countries. The issues within the US need to be addressed and altered pragmatically. Ignoring the problem will not resolve anything.

Did it take in account of the criminal histories with sentencing? I bet not. That data is cherry picked to fit their conclusion before they even started to look at the data. You can tell by the overall tone of writer. Blacks are more likely to go to jail because they are statistically more likely to commit crime.  It's that simple. It's just like the mugging rates, the murder rates and arrests in general. That's at their feet. It's really odd they didn't mention one bit about their crime rates even though it's related to what they were talking about.

You guys tend to frame this stuff as blacks are being arrested more and staying in jail longer because of racism when that's not true. That's a political slogan. If it was true then the disproportionate amount of arrests of blacks wouldn't match the disproportionate amount of crimes blacks commit or the disproportionate amount of convictions of blacks. If a ton of people were being arrested but not convicted or charged because they weren't commiting the alleged crimes, you'd might have a point on cops but..... For your scenario to be true, the cops, lawyers, judges, prison staff would have to on this conspiracy against blacks. That's just lunacy to suggest something like this these days with all of the SJWs ready to pounce on anything. Also, alot of black people work as laywers, cops and judges but yet black criminals are treated the same.

How about we just go with the first thing people should have asked themselves on stuff like this. Did the person(s) just commit more crimes and that's why they're being arrested and sentenced more? If they statistically commit more crimes, why wouldn't the cops pay more attention to them?
