He should be fired. You would get fired at a McDonalds or Wal-Mart for saying something like this on camera, so why should a cop have free reign to be saying stupid things? Beyond that as a public servant he has a greater responsibility to be a positive force in his community.

All this does is inflame a situation and make it harder for legitimate good cops ... when bad cops are allowed to stick around it creates mistrust and tarnishes the uniform. Police departments need to realize that and have a zero tolerance policy. If you can't operate at a higher moral standard, then you are not fit for the job. Plain and simple.

Why would someone at Walmart or McDonald's make that joke? It only makes sense if a cop makes it.

And get off your high horse about higher moral standard. The joke might have been in poor taste but there's no evidence of ill will.

You need to be better as a cop, especially when you have a situation that is quite frankly bad and they have poor standing with a lot of people. Doing stuff like this is plain stupid.

You need to be better than a 13-year-old when being a police officer ... sorry but you are a public servant, which also means the public pays your fucking salary. Be a professional or get out. You're only making it harder for police officers who actually do their job well by not doing your job well, because incidents like this just make people go "yup, see they are assholes". It's not needed. Cops in the US generally need far better training and those who are crap cops need to go.
