The culture and art surrounding Japan is simply fascinating. I love studying Eastern history and seeing how art also evolved in Japan as time went on.
It's a country where hygiene is heavily emphasized upon (even in the city). The city has many interesting things to do. A friend of mine who does business around the world said it felt like a better version of New York.
The areas outside the city has many gorgeous and relaxing places to simply explore and meet people.
Also, the temples and gardens are beautiful. I'd honestly believe it'd be a very fitting place for a couple on a honeymoon or vacation without children.
I'm not sure why other people want to go there, but those are my reason. I'd be pretty disappointed if people went because of anime
