StarCraft was ported to consoles. It was a colossal failure next to the mighty power and glory that is the PC Gaming Master Race.
| Ruler said: I gamed on PC almost the entire last generation unlike you. I am well aware that SC never was dead to begin with but Blizzards investment failed, they didnt need to remaster it in the first place, at least no in this fashion. They could have given us a little bit more resolution size with the old graphics to fill 16:9 resolutions, give us ranked match making and most importantly improved the controls and ignored what those elitist esport minority says. People didnt have any problems with broodwars graphics but the controls. And yes they ignore consoles again which another bad bussines decision. They can port it to Mac but not XBox One and PS4? |
It's a remaster. Not a remake. The investment isn't going to be in the 10's of millions.
| Ruler said: I bought it yestersday and i dont have really fun with this game, the controlls are completley outdated, like the 12 units cap. I also think its stupid how i cant play it on my PS4, i though no one should be locked out? I cant even use the real time lighting because i dont have 2Gb video ram. |
* The limitations is what gave the first game it's charm, you are forced to work around them to be better than your opponent.
One of my major dislikes is the reduction in general management/increased automation in StarCraft 2.
The 12 unit limit means you aren't just going to create one death ball and only micro-manage that one big lump of units... StarCraft 1 forces you to break your forces up and be more strategic.
Besides. Don't like it? Don't play it. It's that simple. There is StarCraft 2 if you wish to have the modern improvements over StarCraft 1.
* And the reason why it is not on the Playstation 4 is blatantly obvious.
Your input methods are inadequate, clunky and slow for a game that has such a heavy focus on APM/multi-tasking/micro-management.
It's also not a full new release, it's more like a patch over the top of the existing game and you just unlock the enhancements by paying for it.
I doubt blizzard wishes to build multiple versions of the game that has such a small reproduction budget anyway.
* Upgrade your PC instead of complaining about your inadequate hardware.
Having less than 2GB of Video Memory means your Graphics hardware is Old/Cheap.

The athor says the numbers dont speak a rosy tale, and at the end he implies Broodwar should except being old and the fact that its dying. http://gearsofbiz.com/starcraft-remastered-hasnt-changed-how-korea-feels-about-starcraft/35818 Its pretty bad, the numbers barley increased in playtime and the fact is that those numbers included all broodwars not just the remasters implying even more lousy sales for this 15 dollar game. |
I have noticed a massive increase in multiplayer population in Oceania since the release of the Remaster.
I can actually get a game in now.
It's far from dying.
It hasn't sold 10~ million units like the base game, but did anyone expect it to when there is a free (Albeit Lesser quality) version available?
It's hard to beat free.
The only solid sales numbers we have is that the 20,000 limited physical release in South Korea sold out in the first day. That's it.
The Playtime in an internet caffe' isn't representative of the success/failure of the game, especially across the entire planet.
Rest assured, Blizzard still rakes in the billions of dollars, continues to support the glory and power of the PC Gaming Master Race and will continue to live on, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. ;)
